My Two Flutes

I have two flutes①. One isplete and good; the other time I see them, I can＇t help feeling sorry and thinking of my dear father.

I like playing the flute very much. Although I＇m busy with my studies, I try hard to find time to play it. And I believe I play it quite well. At the last New Year party I played for my class, and everyone praised my performance. I made up my mind to be an excellent flute player, so I told my father that I wanted to enter Taishan Music and Dance College to learn playing the flute, but he wouldn＇t agree.

In the last final examinations I got poor marks and my father was angry. Not only did he hit me, but he also broke my flute. He told me not to play the flute any more.

A few days later I noticed my father was no longer angry with me. He seemed to feel sorry for what he had done. Several times he wanted to have a talk with me, but I walked away, because I had not forgiven him.

The other day a classmate of mine told me that my father hade to the school to see me. As I was still angry with him and did not wish to see him. I asked the classmate to tell him that I was not in the classroom. A moment later my classmate returned with a beautiful flute in his hand and a smile on his face. “How kind and considerate② your father is!” he said in an envious③ tone.

【写法指要】

本文写父子各自都怀有的内疚心情：父亲把儿子的笛子弄坏了，觉得对不起儿子；儿子生父亲的气，不理父亲，觉得内疚。

文章第一段就把作者负疚的.心理表达出来了，然后写事情的来龙去脉。第二段写作者的爱好和抱负；第三段写考试的失败和父亲的不满；第四段写父亲的内疚和作者的抵触情绪；第五段写父亲给儿子赔不是，儿子不理；第六段写作者负疚的心理。从第二段到第五段每段都写有矛盾冲突，这是这类文章的特点。最后一段作者没有向同学表白什么，只是流泪。但是一切均在不言中。这种写法耐人寻味。

一般格式

英文书信的构成可分6个部分：

信头(Heading)

收信人姓名及地址(inside Name and Address)

称呼(Salutation)

信文(Body of the letter)

结束语(Complimentary close )

署名(Signature)

(1) 信头(Heading)

信头是指发信人的单位名称或地址以及日期。一般情况下发信人只需把自己的地址写(打字，手写均可)在信的右上角，离开信纸的顶头约1英寸，占二三行或四行均可，格式如下：

256 West Nanjing Street

Nanchang, Jiangxi Province

China

Sep. 3rd, 20xx

注意：写地址的次序与中文不同，应先写门牌号码街道，然后城市和国名。

写日期注意下列各点：

① 年份应写全，例如不能用“00”来代替“20xx”。

② 月份应写英文名称，除May, June, July外，可用缩写，如：Sep., Oct.。但不要用数字来代替，如7/4/00或7, 4, 00，因为在英国此日期代表7th April, 20xx，而在美国则代表4th July, 20xx。

③ 日期可用1，2，3，4…11，12…21，22…31等，也可用1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th… 11th, 21st, 22nd, 31st等。

日期的几种写法：

a. July 7, 1998

b. 1st October, 1998

c. 30 Nov., 1997

d. Sep. 3rd, 1999

④ 特别注意英文书信日期应紧着写信人地址下一行，不能像写中文书信那样写在书信签名之后，这是很多学生的常见错误。

(2) 收信人姓名及地址(Inside Name and Address)

写信人的'地址和日期写好以后，接着就要写收信人的姓名和地址，一般的事务信件或给较生疏的朋友的信件要写，而在给较熟的朋友的信中则可省去。这一项写在日期下一行的左上角。收信人姓名写一行，收信人地址可分两行或三行写，和写信人的地址一样，上下可取齐，也可向右缩进。在姓名前一般要加上称号，称号因人而异。

①对普通男子用Mr.；

②对未婚女子用Miss；

③对已婚女子用Mrs.，对婚姻状况不明确的通常用Ms.(后跟本人姓)
