Distinguished leaders, judges, dear students!
Hello, everyone. Today, I’m going to talk about the Chinese history story “Meng Mother Moved Three Times”.
Once upon a time, when Mencius was young, his father died early, and his mother did not remarry. At first, they lived next to the cemetery. Mencius, together with the children of his neighbors, began to play the game of mourning as adults knelt down and cried. When Mencius’ mother saw this, she frowned, ‘No! I can’t let my children live here!” Mencius’ mother took Mencius and moved to the market, near the place where pigs and sheep were killed. When Mencius arrived at the market, he and the children of his neighbors began to learn the trade of merchants and the slaughter of pigs and sheep. When Mencius’ mother knew this, she frowned again, ‘This place is not fit for my child!’ So they moved again. This time, they moved near the school. Every month on the first day of the lunar calendar at this time, officials to the temple of literature, bow down, treat each other politely, Mencius saw all learned to remember. Mencius’ mother nodded her head with satisfaction and said, ‘This is where my son should live!’
Later, people used “Mencius’ mother moving three times” to mean that people should get close to good people, things and things in order to learn good habits, and also shows that the environment can change a person’s hobbies and habits.
That’s the end of my story. Thank you!

When talking about the history of Three Kingdoms, Cao Cao comes to my mind with no Cao was a warlord of the Eastern Han Dynasty who had great power in his times. As a central figure of the Three Kingdoms period,Cao Cao laid the foundations for his son to establish the state of Wei. Although he often was portrayed as a merciless tyrant,Cao Cao was also a brilliant ruler and military genius. He was also talented in poetry.
Cao Cao always paid great attention to the bases of society – agriculture and education when he was alive. At that time, famine often killed many people and wore down the economy and army forces. Without food, armies failed without fighting. Knowing that, Cao was aware of the significance of food supply in building a strong military and a strong state. He carried a series of agricultural programs in cities of his state. He recruited refugees and gave them wasteland to cultivate. Later, encampments not faced with imminent danger of war were also made to farm. This system was continued and spread to all regions under Cao. As a result, his realm expanded largely. Although Cao’s main purpose was to feed a powerful army, the agricultural program greatly improved the living standards of the people, especially war refugees. Fortunately, Cao had eliminated his biggest enemy– Yuan Shao’s force. This spared him more time and energy on the construction within his realm. Cao ordered a rule decreeing the promotion of education throughout the counties and cities within his jurisdiction. An official in charge of education was assigned to each county with at least 500 households. Youngsters with potential and talents were selected for schooling. This prevented a lapse in the output of intellectuals in those warring years and benefited the people.
Cao Cao was very talented in military. In order to explain this, I need to mention a famous battle in the history—Guandu Battle. In 200, Yuan Shao amassed more than 100,000 soliders and marched southwards on Xuchang in the name of rescuing the emperor. On the contrary, Cao only gathered 20,000 soliers in Guandu, a significant place on theYellow River. Thinking that Cao’s men was only 1/5 of his army, Yuan’s pride guided him to meet Cao’s force head-on. Despite his overwhelming advantage in terms of manpower, Yuan lost this battle because the rebellion of his followers and Cao’s leadership and wisdom to make full use of the internal conflicts among Yuan’s large troop.
Besides,Cao Cao was an accomplished poet. A few of Cao’s works remain today but each poem is outstanding. His profound verses helped to reshape the poetic style of his Cao was specifically noted for developments to the characteristic yuefu, which was very easy for singing and spreading. One of his most celebrated poems is in the old four-character line style: Tortoise Lives Long, in which he expressed his ambition. This poem inspired many people to pursue the dream desired all along the time, especially the people in their old age.
In my mind,Cao Cao is a big hero in his age. He realized the biggest dreams of the people in his age: to be the most powerful governor of a country, to win as many times as possible on the battlefield and to leave poems for the people to read even after thousands of years. He was talented in leadership, military and arts, which could make up for his shortcomings criticized by the people who couldn’t do better than Cao Cao.

I like history lesson
Which lesson do you like most? I think different person has different answer. As for me the answer is definite history. I like history since I am very little when my grandma told me the stories of the great historic person such as Chairman Mao, Yuefei, Simaguang.
Some people maybe think that history is boring and hard because it has so much persons and accidents to remember. But I am very interested in it. All the people and accidents are just like the heroes in the stories that grandma told me. And reading history is just like making friend with them. Is it hard to remmenber your friend?
Some people think that history is the past and it is useless to daily life. I don’t think so. Looking into past may help us to understand future better. History is a good teacher for us to let us know which is right and which is wrong and help us to live a happy life.
We all can benefit from history,so I like it.
Thanks!

After a while, xunxiang and others rebelled against Li Shimin one after another. Some ministries also had doubts about Yuchi Gong and imprisoned him. He followed Shimin and fought on the battlefield, defeating Dou Jiande, Wang Shichong and Liu heikai, and made great contributions to Li Shimin’s accession to the throne after he was established. Later,

Mao Zedong (December 26, 1893 – September 9, 1976) was a Chinese military and political leader, who led the Communist Party of China (CPC) to victory against the Kuomintang (KMT) in the Chinese Civil War, and was the leader of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) from its establishment in 1949 until his death in 1976.
Regarded as one of the most important figures in modern world history, Mao is still a controversial figure today, over thirty years after his death. He is held in high regard in China where he is often portrayed as a great revolutionary and strategist who eventually defeated Chiang Kai-shek in the Chinese Civil War, and transformed the country into a major power through his policies. However, many of Mao’s socio-political programs such as the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution are blamed by critics from both within and outside China for causing severe damage to the culture, society, economy and foreign relations of China, as well as enormous and unnecessary loss of lives, a peacetime death toll in the tens of millions.
Although still officially venerated in China, his influence has been largely overshadowed by the political and economic reforms of Deng Xiaoping and other leaders since his death. Mao is also recognized as a poet and calligrapher.

A large number of students hold a misunderstanding towards history study because they consider it as useless and boring. However, each subject has its own value, not excepting history.
There are several points accounting for my view. In the first place, history is a part of culture, which is the spiritual backbone of a nation. Through learning history, we can appreciate the culture of a country, as well as the history of its development, so that we can understand our nation better. In the second place, history learning helps us to make correct decision.
By review the history of our nations development, we are able to avoid some mistakes which we had made in the past and draw lessons from past experience, which is helpful for us to make correct decision. Last but not least, we can learn some new ways of thinking from learning history. By learning different ways to solve problems in history, we will be the people with a compressive mind.
In brief, learning history is necessary and important. Therefore, there is no the most useful course at all, and we should make effort to find out the value of each course.
