Despite his overwhelming advantage in terms of manpower, Yuan lost this battle because the rebellion of his followers and Cao’s leadership and wisdom to make full use of the internal conflicts among Yuan’s large troop.

Besides,Cao Cao was an accomplished poet. A few of Cao’s works remain today but each poem is outstanding. His profound verses helped to reshape the poetic style of his Cao was specifically noted for developments to the characteristic yuefu, which was very easy for singing and spreading. One of his most celebrated poems is in the old four-character line style: Tortoise Lives Long, in which he expressed his ambition.
