毫无疑问,当今高中英语写作教学存在一定的问题,最终表现为学生的高考写作水平普遍低下,大部分参加高考的学生书面表达部分不及格。笔者认为,要想改变这种情况,可以通过英语语言的应用,即写英语日记,让学生在平时养成良好的写作习惯,真正打好基本功,从而进一步提高其语言运用的能力。本文笔者就高中生写英语日记的可行性、紧迫性,如何写日记以及在写作过程中有关问题的解决进行论述。

一、高中生写英文日记的可行性

1.高中生年龄心理思维能力方面的可行性

随着学生年龄的增长和年级的升高,到了高中阶段,学生的生理和心理都有了比较大的变化,逐步脱离了以机械模仿和反复练习为主要记忆手段的学习阶段,进入了以观察能力提高、自主学习能力增强为主的学习阶段。也就是说,学生的创造性想象能力日益突出,甚至思维能力以及解决问题的能力达到了一个新的高度。所以,此时学生不管是用汉语或是英语,相对能够反映出他们对周围世界的观察和对社会的感受,对生活和学习的看法以及对未来的憧憬。所以,学生已经在生理、心理以及思维方面具备了用英语写作的客观基础。

2.学业水平基础的可行性

学生进入高中阶段,经过之前多年英语的学习和练习,其听、说、读、写能力大多都已经具备了一定的基础,基本能够表达自己的看法和观察所得。以词汇为例,到高一上学期结束,学生正常的词汇量至少达到了1300个。这完全具备了对人与物的描述所需要的词汇量,基本的单句写作能力完全具备,复杂的句子结构初步有了认识。

写作练习,实质上是语言的输出能力的练习,是有必要的,但是在高中阶段作为教师如何科学、系统地操作,是一个教师必须要考虑的问题。换句话说,学生已经具备了用英语写日记的基本条件,作为教师就要考虑下一步如何做了。

二、高中生写英文日记的紧迫性

近年高考作文的情况如何呢?让我们看几组随机选出的数据:2009年北京英语高考试题大作文(20分)和小作文(15分),两项平均分不超过15分;2009年河南省高考英语书面表达总分为25分,平均分为11分多一点;2008年湖南高考试题作文总分为25分,其平均分为;2007年广东基础写作(15分)和读写任务(25分),全省的平均分分别为和9分;2007年陕西省英语作文总分30分,全省平均成绩是。2011年河南省高考英语试题作文平均分仍是11分多一点。由此可以看到,总体书面表达的平均分是很低的,不及格。这说明英语书面表达是中国学生学习英语的一个瓶颈。也就是说,英语写作是高中教学中的薄弱环节。为什么会出现这种情况呢?表面原因是学生基本功差,单词拼写不准确,写出的东西词不达意,汉语式英语表达方式,时态混乱。

曾经有一位参与陕西省高考英语试卷批改的老师说,没有大的语法错误和表达切题完整的基本上都可以得到20分,稍微有一些精彩高级表达的都能轻松得到24分。语言是人类最主要的交际工具。按照大英百科全书对语言的表述为:System of conventional spoken or written symbols used by people in a shared culture to communicate with each other.由此可 见,它有以下几个特点:1.系统性; 2.习惯性;3.实用性;4交际性;5.文化性。如此复杂的一个语言系统,包括书面语言,如果仅靠给学生讲解,让学生写作文、记模板、背范文肯定是不行的。平时不重视基本功的训练,不进行学生自学能力的培养,教师为教(考)而教,学生为学(考)而学,已经失去了语言本身的意义。到高三阶段,临阵磨枪,再进行大量的反复练习,要求学生使用高级词汇、复杂句子结构,到最后效果可想而知。

三、写英文日记的要求

1.基本要求

每周每人写作3篇到6篇,基本要求是尽可能写出完整的句子。对于水平比较高的学生可以适当增加篇数,但是,一定要让学生自愿且力所能及。

2.内容

内容可以为人或物的描写,或者是自己的所见所闻,每日的所思所想;也可以是抄写自己喜欢的名言名句,或者比较地道的英语句子;还可以是利用刚刚在课文里学习的单词短语造句,编故事,扩充句子。在开始阶段,教师要提醒学生学会用自己的眼睛观察,学会用脑思考。

3.篇幅大小

学生写英语作文的目的之一是练习英语,给自己提供一个英语学习的环境或者氛围,所以篇幅可长可短。但作为学生,应尽可能逐渐适应,慢慢写多一些。开始时,可以少到仅写一句两句,但千万不要停。周末可以多写,上课期间可以相对少些;假期可以多写点,平时忙时可以适量少一点。此外,还可以分层次,学生英语程度较好的尽量多写;基础较差的学生,可以少些,只写一句两句也行。

4.英语日记的写作的首行格式

(1)在左上角写日期、星期。如:September 13th,2010,Sunday,或写为:Thursday,September 10th,2009。

(2)写明当天的天气状况。如果是在外出或者旅游时,标明地点。比较常用的描写天气的英语词语有:sunny/fine;cloudy;rain/rainy/raining;snowy/snowing。

四、教师的任务

1.确定收缴批改日记的时间

教师可固定一天的早上收日记,同时尽可能在第二天及时分发给学生,不然会占用学生的写作时间。

2.指导学生写日记

学生开始写日记时会出现脑袋空空,无物可写,仅写一些上学骑车,几点下课,爸妈做的饭很好吃之类的内容。这时,教师应该给学生以引导,或者提示,如周围发生了什么事,结果如何,你感觉如何,何时结束。教师也可以用学生在写日记时写的一则小故事,引导学生,学会观察,学会想象,培养良好的写作思路。

3.批改与表扬

学生或多或少都会有词汇、语法、结构等方面的不准确或错误,作为教师在批改学生日记时应及时发现并修改。教师也可以写出比较理想的句子,让学生对比理解吸收。在日记本上用英语写评语是很重要的一步。评语基本上应由三部分构成:一是所写日记内容本身的评价,问题何在(语法词语),亮点在哪里(有的句子写得好,有的内容写得好)。教师要把好句子用特别符号标注一下,突出出来。二是给予学生鼓励或学习方法方面指导的评语。三是与学生沟通交流的语言。学生对于这样的评语很期待。

4.师生交流

日记是一个很好的师生互动平台。有的学生直接写学习英语的感受,教师可以与之交流。有的学生写学习上的疑惑,教师可以给他释疑。有的学生写个人的一些生活感悟,教师可以给他写些鼓励。这样不仅使学生的写作能力得到提高,还加强了师生之间的沟通,使师生关系更为融洽。

life in the city is very different from life in the villages and on the farms. people in large cities are much more careful to respect the privacy of the individual. sometimes this feeling seems to be one of indifference, but it is a convention of city life to curb one's curiosity about the personal affairs of strangers. villagers and farmers are likely to show a great deal of interest in all their neighbors. opportunities for bright young people are greater in the cities and there has been a steady stream of hopeful jobseekers from the villages and farms to the large metropolitan areas.
