Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.

I'm wuhaitao from the Development of Information Engineering. It's my honor to be here today to give you this speech. My topic is "protecting the environment". Looking around us,we can see that polluction is posing a threat to our earth, which comes in many ways. Millions of the chimneys of the factories are pouring heavy smoke into air,which causes serious air polution.

A large amount of waste water from factories pollutes water ,making the rivers fishless and our water unfit to drink and swim in. Further more,a lot of trees have been cut down without proper plans.,which continues to the soil being washed away. It seems that we really have no clean place to live in.

The pollution is so serious that we have to find effective solutions to it. As far as I'm concerned , the goverment should pass laws to reduce poiiuted air. Some measures should be taken to purify the water bsfore it is poured into the rivers or seas. We should plant more trees to keep the soil in place. What's more, people should be further educated to realize the importance of the environment pritection. Thus we will have clean and tidy environment.

Only in this way can we solve these problems.

I’m very honored to stand here and give you a short speech! To begin with ,I want to ask a question .Does everybody dream a good dream last night? Actually ,today I want to talk about dream with you. Of course, What I want to talk is not a dream you have last night,but a dream—— about life.

I cant realize my dream,it result from that I havent work harder enough and I wont find other e__cuses. If no people believe you, you can make it to prove that you are right. If you think the god havent blessed you and there is no truth here, you can become the god and create the truth.

"My breath swallows the sky and make the yellow river overflow, my sword is famous in Kyushu and it can collapse the five sacred mountains." At some time in the past I also had am bitious words and I had some achievements. Each achievement results from my hard work. I always believe that "If you want to have more achievements than others, you must work harder."

In some e__tent, the dream is the hope. If you can insist on doing something, the victory will come.

Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow. So my dear friends,think of your old and maybe dead dreams. Whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive from today. Lets---move---out!

Knowledge collaboration and all-round education

Ladies and gentlemen,

We engineering students take it for granted that technology is changing incredibly fast. We are thinking nervously and seriously whether our colleges are failing to provide a foundation in the skills currently needed in industry. Take my major telecommunications for example. Scientists say that 21st century is a biomedical time, not an electrical time. But without the help of electronic data processing and transformation, biomedical technology alone cannot go too far. Funny enough, the word biomedical itself is just a combination of two disciplines. So the interdisciplinary exploitation serves as the critical part for our electric and electronics world as well as any other fields to find new way of being.

But the power of knowledge collaboration is certainly not restricted to science and engineering; it is in the full community of learning. Walking around campus I absorbed a reality that there is a seamless web between students from different professional backgrounds. The engineering students are discussing animatedly in a philosophy lecture, speaking passionately in the public speaking club, and looking for sparkling ideas from learning history and arts. How wonderful that is! That, ladies and gentleman, is just a significant step forward to be well-rounded because once we jump out of the circle we can see the bigger picture.

My friends, I hope that you have already got what university is all about. Please let me end my speech with the Nobel Prize winner Li Zhengdao’s words: “The realization of the perfect combination of science and engineering, science and arts, technology and humanity， is the greatest symbol of a university’s success.”

Time flies. In a twinkling of an eye, four years later, I am no longer the kid playing hide and seek, nor the coquettish little girl lying in her mother's arms. On this day, I bid farewell to my alma mater for four years and walked into the gate of middle school with my perfect vision for the future.

Coming to the new school, my first feeling is fresh. The campus is so clean and tidy, with wide playground and bright classroom; there are amiable teachers and friendly students, which makes me believe that I am not in the wrong place. I like the environment there. There are plants and trees for company. There are classmates who care for each other. There are teachers who teach me carefully. Such a beautiful school, such a brand-new classroom, such a kind family, really let me surging new tide.

When you come to a new school, you should have a new look. In a year there, I will make up for my own shortcomings. It's not enough to attend all kinds of lectures, but also to pay attention to the teachers' speeches I understand that it will be very difficult to do this. As long as you work hard, persevere and never shrink back, you will succeed.

I understand that everyone's mind is not the same, the new semester everyone has their own plan, let's join hands to advance towards the goal of self!
