在人民最惶恐的关键时刻，也多亏了钟南山院士以及他手下的那些医护人员的努力，才让社会不至于陷入恐慌之中。他教导人们不要多出去走动，一定要注意好各方面的防护措施，他的话就像是定心丸，也镇压住了许多蠢蠢欲动想要外出的人。他是一个非常爱国而且爱憎分明的老人，就算是一把年纪，也依然身体健朗，并且还热爱运动。他在人们都避之不及的时候，给所有人起到了带头作用，可以说钟南山是民族英雄。他的两次挂帅出征，把中国的损失降到最低，也成功解救了许多被病情折磨的中国人民。
