The compensability between the longitudinal and transverse mismachining tolerance of grating in the optical pick-up head
In this paper numeric analysis is made to the influence of the longitudinal mismachining tolerance (LMT)and the transverse mismachining tolerance (TMT) of the grating in the optical pick-up head (GOPH) of VCD, DVD, and CD-ROM on the transmissivity and the intensity ratio of the auxiliary light beam to the main read-write light beam (IRAM) by using the general expression of diffraction efficiency obtained from the scalar diffraction theory. On solving GOPH problem, the scalar diffraction theory and the vector diffraction theory are coincident, and the scalar diffraction theory is reliable. The result shows that LMT and TMT can compensate for the inverse effect of IRAM, however, at the expense of reducing transmissivity. As far as GOPH is concerned, the goodness that LMT and TMT can be effectively compensated for is very advantageous in manufacturing of the grating.

We experimentally establish a non-classical correlation between a single Stokes photon and the collective spin excited state of a cold atomic ensemble by using a spontaneous Raman scattering correlation between them can be proved by transferring the spin excited state of the atomic ensemble into an anti-Stokes photon and checking the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality between the Stokes and the anti-Stokes non-classical correlation can be kept for at least 300 ns.

Association between the -1562 C/T polymorphism in the MMP-9 promoter and phenotype of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
Objective To conduct a case-control study on the association of the nucleotide polymorphisms in the promoter region of the matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) gene with phenotype of esophageal cancer. Methods All subjects were unrelated residents in northern regions of China. Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) analysis was used to determine the MMP-9 genotypes. Results The overall distribution of genotypes in the patients was not different from that in the controls (OR=, 95% CI=; P=). There were no significant differences between the patients and the control subjects in terms of the distributions of sex and age, smoking status, alcohol dependence, pickled diet status, or history of environmental exposure. The patients were further examined with stratifications by age, sex, grade, depth of tumor invasion, lymphatic invasion, venous invasion and TNM staging. The results showed no pronounced association among the stratifications. Conclusion There is no significant association between the MMP-9 single nucleotide polymorphism genotypes and phenotype of esophageal cancer.

Even the most complicated computer man has yet built can't compare in intricacy with the brain. Computer switches and comportents number in the thousands rather than in the 's more, the computer switch is just an on-off device,whereas the brain cell is itself possessed of a tremendously complex inner structure.
Can a computer think? That depends on what you mean by“think”。 If solving a mathematical problem is“thinking',then a computer can”think'and do so much faster than a man. Of course, most mathematical problems can be solved quite mechanically by repeating certain straightforward processes over and over again. Even the simple computers of today can be geared for that.
Surely, though, if a computer can be made complex enough, it can be as creative as we are. If it could be made as complex as a human brain, it could be the equivalent of a human brain and do whatever a human brain can do.
But how long will it take to build a computer complex enough to duplicate the human brain? Perhaps not as long as some think. Long before we approach a computer as complex as our brain, we will perhaps build a computer that is at least complex enough to design another computer more complex than itself. This more complex computer could design one still more complex and so on and so on and so on.
In other words, once we pass a certain critical point, the computers take over and there is a“complexity explosion”。 In a very short time thereafter, computers may exist that not only duplicate the human brain--but far surpass it.
