different people have different dreams. some people dream of being rich or famous and others dream of staying young for long. i also have a lot of dreams. but my dream is to become a lawyer.

if i were a lawyer in the future, i would serve our country first because from tv, i learn the japanese seize our country’s islands. i can’t stand it when they even say these islands are theirs. so, i feel strongly that i must study hard and get back diaoyu islands by law when i grow up.

i also saw some people who were suffering and dying of ill-nesses. i made up my mind to become a doctor, so that i can help the sick people and cure them of their diseases. china is a develop-ing country. she needs good medicine and good doctors, especially in the countryside and lonely villages.

i want to try my best to help the poor sick people of our country. i want to let them have an opportunity to receive excel-lent treatments for their illnesses without having to pay much or any money.

if i were a lawyer in the future, i would serve people heart and soul. i would offer free help for people in need.

My Definition of Success

By Bao Jinlong(鲍金龙)

It is easy to describe success in terms of money, fame and reputation. But I believe that success is not external. I believe that success comes from within. My definition of success is to be true to yourself, and be true to others. That means, that you must cherish your personal ideal even in the face of adversity. I also believe that success is not discriminatory. Success is not restricted to such a class of people, in fact, it may be achieved by any person irrespective of his race, creed, gender and economic background. A good example of success is that of Beethoven. He is one of the world's most famous composers, yet he was deaf. He could not hear the majestic pieces of music that he created. Yet, in the face of this adversity, he was able to maintain his ideals--that of composing music.

To exemplify what success means to me, I pose a question to all of you. What brings us together here today? I believe that it is the beauty of the spoken word. The effect of pause and the sound of rhetoric are unique to the spoken word. I believe the beauty of the spoken word is even stronger for those who have difficulty in expressing themselves.

These people are reclusive and had their emotions hidden within them. I once went to Australia and I saw two pictures, Once was drawn by a normal child, the other was drawn by a child with social inhibitions. The picture drawn by the normal child was simple and plain. The other was life-like, full of details and imagination. What this shows is that these are ideas, emotions and feelings that are locked internally in thesechildren.

My ideal is to be the key, spreading the beauty of the spoken words to these children. These children have been neglected, but I feel that I can and should help these children to find themselves and be able to express themselves.

I realize that this is a difficult task, and there are many obstacles on the way. But I believe in my ideals and I will stick to them--even in the face of adversity. We should never have a premature abortion of ideals--let the child, let our ideals, stand the challenge. For a life without ideals is not living.

Thank you!

When I was out for a travel in Jeju Island, what surprised me most are those Chinese features all around this prestigious scenic spot of Korea. The moment I got out of the plane, I was amused by those broken Chinese words printed on the wall of the airport. Most of those hilarious words say “currency exchange!” or “greatest hotel room ever! ” and “Duty free shops” in a pretty funny way. I guess Chinese people are, like, walking cash to them. Anyway, although those who wrote them clearly are not even close to good Chinese speakers, they had indeed made my travel phenomenally convenient as well as homelike at the same time. There is even a whole district called JUNGMUN, which means “Chinese” in Korean. It is one of the most bustling places in Jeju, as tourists from China basically bought the whole place up.

I could even spend RMB in Jeju, which is usually not allowed in other religious or countries. Chinese tourists have indeed promoted the economics there, I guess. Another interesting phenomenon I’d like to talk about is the Chinese feature in US TV series. As you all know, US TV series play a rather important part in Chinese students’ lives. Agents of SHIELD is a well-known series and I personally love it very much. When an agent came back, half-dead, saying “I have spent my last four years in a ShanXi cooper mine”, I couldn’t help laughing. And I don’t have to mention the Chinese food Saturday of Sheldon in The Big bang theory, the mysterious girlfriend named Shadow of Oliver Queen in The Arrow, and those meaningless quoting of Confucius and Sun Zi in countless US TV series.

American writers seem to see Chinatown as a sacred and exotic place in which live insidious villains who happen to master kung fu and have serious Asian faces. These phenomena above are just a small part of Chinese features overseas I have noticed. Needless to say, the rise of China has indeed became more and more relevant and significant to the ordinary Chinese people. There most certainly is not any other country in this world that has changed its international standing at this magnitude, and the world is embracing China in an unprecedented way. However , although we have seen the progress made by the world, I’m still hoping that they can see through the surface to perceive the essence of China. What we should really focus on are every individual of the billion ordinary Chinese.

We should change the viewpoint and take a serious look at China, at Chinese people, at their down-to-earth dreams, at their impulsive drive to change their fate, to change their nation's fate, and at their kindhearted temperaments, at their diligent characters. Today's China is made up of Chinese people who have virtue and excellence, not just of Bruce Lee and Kung pao chicken cubes. We should not overlook this great country, and we most certainly should not see only the high-rise buildings and the apparent prosperity, but also lay our sights on those unsung heroes who have been making contributions to this very society since the beginning.

"New Year! Celebrate the New Year! The children's laughter echoed through the room

I began to set off firecrackers, which had "flash thunder", "triangle thunder", "flying squirrel", "monkey" and "peacock"... I had a good time. Dream king yao and I go to the point firecrackers, points out, the two of us open and started running back, wait for ten minutes, no movement, brother said: "the two of you little fool, haven't lighted firecrackers, you ran back." We said, "oh, brother we know." We ran to another point, wang mengyao first ran back, I just ran two steps, it began to ring, I immediately became the shrink head turtle, everyone laughed to tears all came out.

At eight o 'clock, we began to watch the couplet, the little shen Yang in "not bad money" appeared, and I was laughing my head off. Zhao benshan wants what is not, he say: "I seek boss to go!" "No," said little shenyang. Little shenyang just had a moment ago, turn around, little shenyang say: "oh, the boss went out." Where is the pain in my stomach?

At twelve o 'clock, we began to make dumplings, wrapped the dumplings, and began to eat. I think the dumplings are very fragrant. I ate 10 of them in one breath.

The Spring Festival is very good, there is delicious, have fun, still can watch "Spring Festival gala". I wish every day New Year!

Development and the Environment

It is undeniable that the worsening environment has become the biggest concern of the present-day world. Land resources are dwindling because of water loss and soil erosion. Waste gases poison the air we breathe. The rivers and lakes are polluted by waste dumped in them from factories. It is probably no exaggeration to say that deterioration of the quality of the environment threatens the existence of mankind itself.

Some people are of the opinion that the environmental problem is the price we have to pay for economic development. But I do not think that this argument is valid. After all, what is the point of economic growth if people’s lives are adversely alfected by worsening environmental pollution?

There is plenty of evidence to show that sustainable development can be achieved by balancing economic growth with protection of the environment. The key to achieving this is to make people aware of the seriousness of the problem. Both governments and ordinary citizens should join hands to make this world a better place to live in, not only for ourselves, but also for future generations.

What's the ideal society? It's a society no one worries about their living, a society no one is refused from education, a society everyone can pursue his/her own happiness! The ideal society is filled with love, joy and kindness. In that society, we can touch the other's hearts, we can share our dreams and most important, we can just be the true men!

Let's break the ethnic divide, bridge the gap between rich and poor, hand in hand, to build a Great wall, protecting us from evil; to construct a steady bridge, connecting reality to the ideal society! Let's pursue for that, that's the only way to the bright future! They are watching us! Thank you!

Smoking is a greater cause of death and disability than any single disease, says the World Health Organisation.

According to their figures, it is responsible for approximately five million deaths worldwide every year.

Tobacco smoking is a known or probable cause of approximately 25 diseases, and even the WHO says that its impact on world health is not fully assessed.

Heart attack and stroke.

UK studies show that smokers in their 30s and 40s are five times more likely to have a heart attack than non'smokers.

i have the answer to a question that we've all asked. the question is, why is it that the letter x represents the unknown? now i know we learned that in math class, but now it's everywhere in the culture -- the x prize, the x-files, project x, tedx. where'd that come from?

about six years ago i decided that i would learn arabic, which turns out to be a supremely logical language. to write a word or a phrase or a sentence in arabic is like crafting an equation, because every part is extremely precise and carries a lot of information. that's one of the reasons so much of what we've come to think of as western science and mathematics and engineering was really worked out in the first few centuries of the common era by the persians and the arabs and the turks.

this includes the little system in arabic called al-jebra. and al-jebr roughly translates to “the system for reconciling disparate parts.“ al-jebr finally came into english as algebra. one example among many.

the arabic texts containing this mathematical wisdom finally made their way to europe -- which is to say spain -- in the 11th and 12th centuries. and when they arrived there was tremendous interest in translating this wisdom into a european language.

but there were problems. one problem is there are some sounds in arabic that just don't make it through a european voice box without lots of practice. trust me on that one. also, those very sounds tend not to be represented by the characters that are available in european languages.

here's one of the culprits. this is the letter sheen, and it makes the sound we think of as sh -- “sh.“ it's also the very first letter of the word shalan, which means “something“ just like the the english word “something“ -- some undefined, unknown thing.

Good afternoon,ladies and gentlemen!

I'm very honored to stand here and give you a short speech! To begin with ,I want to ask a question .Does everybody dream a good dream last night? Actually ,today I want to talk about dream with you. Of course, What I want to talk is not a dream you have last night, but a dream—— about life.

Everyone has dreams about life, different dreams at different life stage, and we need dreams to support us. Dreams are like the stars we never reach in the sky,but like most mariners,we can chart our course by them. With the dream,we have a direction, with a direction, we were no longer the dream, there is hope,With hope, we have the strength to fight.

I have a dream: To be a doctor.,because doctor may relieve the pain of patients. May let the human change the health. At the same time, I believed that, those who help others may be able to obtain joyfully. Therefore, I hoped in the near future ,I might be a doctor.

But I know, life is tough, and there are always ups and downs, maybe we fail in the way to our aims, and we may feel depressed ,whenever at this time, the dream in our heart can always comfort us, encourage us ,and support us to move ahead.

perhaps the clintons' greatest achievement is their daughter, who moved into the white house as a young girl, and left as an accomplished young lady. it's not easy to be a teenager in the white house, but it's a lot easier when you have a loving mother and a loving father that chelsea clinton had.

this magnificent presidential library, and the american life it celebrates, would not have been possible without the love and sacrifice of a special lady. among his heroes, president clinton always includes his mother, virginia kelley, "a working woman and a widow." virginia was there when her son took the oath of office, and we know that she would be incredibly proud of this day.

the story that began in a little house on hervey street in hope, arkansas is the kind of story that inspires people from every background, all over america. in this great nation, it is always possible for a child to go as far as their talent and vision can take them. visitors to this place will be reminded of the great promise of our country, and the dreams that came true in the life of our 42nd president. the william j. clinton presidential library is a gift to the future
